CurlShot MCP
Let an MCP client capture a public web page as an image, PDF or scrolling video through CurlShot. The hosted service requires an API key for rendering; video availability depends on your plan.
Start with the current requirements ↓What it helps you do
Use this when an agent needs a visual record of a public page: a full-page screenshot for UI review, a PDF for a reference pack or a scrolling recording. Supply an HTTP(S) URL and choose the format, viewport or device preset. take_screenshot returns the capture; list_devices lists presets. Large results can be returned as temporary download links.
The public repository contains documentation, a manifest and skill material. Its MIT license does not mean the hosted rendering backend is open source or available to self-host.
Costs and access requirements
The reviewed README lists 100 screenshots per month on the free plan, with no card required, and paid plans starting at US$19/month. A successful render uses one screenshot of quota; cache hits and failed renders do not. Video formats require a plan that includes video. The documented MCP limit is 120 requests per minute per IP, in addition to plan limits. Confirm current terms on CurlShot pricing.
Documented setup
Create a CurlShot account and a dedicated API key. The README says to leave Require signature off for this MCP key because MCP calls are not signed. Keep the key in client settings rather than prompts.
For a client supporting remote Streamable HTTP, set:
Server URL: https://curlshot.com/api/mcp
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY
The placeholder is not a working key. Use your client's header/secret configuration. Clients that only launch local servers need the upstream proxy setup, with its own Node.js dependency.
Check your first result
Start with a public page you control and one image capture. Check the actual image, viewport and page state before using it in a report. A successful HTTP connection alone does not prove a correct screenshot. If quota is exhausted, the tool returns an upgrade error rather than an image. The endpoint uses POST; opening it with GET can return 405 without indicating a broken service.
The URL is sent to CurlShot for remote rendering. Avoid private URLs, embedded credentials and customer material unless you have reviewed the service terms. Agent guide.
